SOPHIE FAVILLA - GRADUATE ENGINEER
BEng - Environmental / Environmental Health Engineering
What’s been the highlight of your time at Infracorr so far?
My highlight would be all the different people I have learnt from. There is such a diverse range of skills and experiences to be surrounded by that I feel very fortunate to have such great mentors.
How have your skills developed during your time at Infracorr?
In my time with Infracorr I have received teaching and guidance that has been invaluable to my development as not only an engineer, but as a person. Looking back at when I started, it is amazing to think of how much independence I have gained to where I can now lead and manage projects.
Have you had the opportunity to work on any projects that you've found particularly interesting or challenging?
It’s difficult to pick one thing, but in general I love getting to work on such a variety of projects and buildings throughout Melbourne. Going behind the scenes of some our most iconic landmarks has been truly special.
PAOLO ALEGRO - GRADUATE ENGINEER
BEng / BSc - Civil Engineering / Material Science
Can you tell me a bit about the team culture and how you've found it to be as a new graduate?
In my team, I'm grateful for the support I receive to foster my technical skills and professional growth. It's empowering, especially as a recent Graduate Engineer, to have the autonomy to take charge of my work, pursue new ideas with confidence and contribute to meaningful projects, knowing that my peers are there to lend a hand.
How have you found the change from being a student to being a professional?
Moving from student life to the professional world has been both seamless and challenging. While the transition brought about new routines and responsibilities, it's also been a thrilling adventure of continuous learning and growth. Embracing practical application over theoretical knowledge has been invigorating, and I'm relishing every opportunity to expand my skills and make a real impact in my career.
Have you had the opportunity to work on any projects that you've found particularly interesting or challenging?
One that stands out is the Glebe Island Silos where I performed both a detailed defect survey via digital twin technology with 1900+ annotation cards and an on-site condition assessment 50 metres in the air. It pushed me out of my comfort zone but also taught me a lot and was immensely rewarding.
